Owner Surrender

You've landed on this page because you've made the difficult decision to rehome your pet. 

Please, try to rehome your pup yourself first. You know your baby best and are best suited for finding him or her the right home. So much information gets lost when turning your loved one over to a rescue. You can share their likes, needs, routines, and quirks. These are things that can make a family fall in love.

Adopt-A-Pet also has a rehoming section of their website at Rehome.Adoptapet.com.

If you have exhausted all your resources, Spencer has a program called Owner Foster.

THIS IS NOT OWNER SURRENDER. WE DO NOT TAKE IN YOUR DOG.

1.  Send an email to rescuers@spencerpetrescue.info describing your situation, what behavioral issues you are experiencing, how long you've had your dog, etc.

2. Send proof that you have attempted to rehome your dog on your own.

3. Once we have received the information, we will evaluate and determine if we think we can help. We will call you or email you back.

4. If we decide we can help, we will come to your house to conduct an evaluation of your dog to determine trainability. If your dog passes that evaluation, we will provide you with training techniques to use while your dog is still with you.

5. You will keep your dog in your home and implement the training techniques and/or attend the group training classes.

6. Once we determine that your dog is ready and capable of being moved to a new home, we will add him/her to our listings and post on social media.
