We are currently running on the love and dedication of volunteers and we need more volunteers to keep building up the Spencer program. We are also looking for folks who want to be a part of our Board of Directors.

Are you a social media guru who could build up our Facebook following and create a presence for us on IG, Tiktok, etc? Are you great at organizing events and fundraisers? Do you have sales skills and business connections to help us get sponsorships? Are you the best grant writer around? Do you have a love for all things creative and would tell me to stop designing on Canva and let you take over our graphic design and even redo our Wix website?

Kristen Palm-Bedwell

Kristen grew up dreaming of a life in petcare. She's worked at Nestle Purina, been a pet sitter, and a kennel tech. She built her career in Marketing and Project Management and is now taking those skills into developing and building up the new mission of Spencer Pet Rescue.
Shauna Lawson
Head Dog Trainer

Shauna got her start volunteering for the local humane society as a dog walker and then quickly moved into learning kennel operations and canine husbandry. She graduated from Starmark Academy for professional dog trainers in 2013 as a Canine Training and Behavior Specialist. She has worked with pet dog owners for the last 11 years, focusing on basic obedience training, behavior modification and puppy training. She joined Spencer’s Pet Rescue in 2025 as a volunteer foster and trainer and is looking forward to helping dogs in the community find the right home.

Alyssa Smith
Dog Trainer and Working Dog Rescue Operations Manager

Alyssa graduated from Kennelwood Academy for Professional Dog Trainers.
She is a current handler of a certified Human Remains Detection (HRD) dog and serves as an active volunteer member of a Search & Rescue (SAR) team, contributing to real-world missions and ongoing professional training in scent detection and field deployment.
